A new world …?

A new world …?

Did you notice? Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, all these platforms we use on a daily basis, became Meta.

But what is it exactly?

To help you understand more easily, replace the term “metaverse'' with the term “digital space”, in any context the meaning will not change.

In his introduction video, Mark Zuckerberg explains that the Metaverse is a set of 3D spaces built for people to play, work, socialize, sell and buy products. The only limit is your own imagination, really.

Apparently, the metaverse is here to help us connect on a deeper level, like Zuckerberg said “The metaverse will be the successor of the mobile internet”.

Pretty awesome, right?

How does it work?

Based on the fact that the metaverse is a virtual world, “ a three-dimensional space”, it is heavily reliant on digital media technologies, like virtual and augmented reality.

Virtual reality (VR) is when the user perception is solely based on “fabricated” virtual information, augmented reality (AR) on the other hand is when the user perception of real-life is provided with additional computer-generated information to enhance their perception of reality.

Why would I care?

Because even though many still think that VR and AR are just “science fiction”, the truth is, they already are implemented in our daily lives, in video games, medicine and education. Virtual technologies are here to stay!

And they make for good career perspectives, according to PWC, VR and AR are to have a big impact on the economy and employment.

Popular job site Hired.com released its report State of Software Engineers and it clearly shows that demand for VR/AR engineers has grown by a whopping 1400% in 2020.

Did you know? The salaries of virtual reality engineers range from a low of $150,000 to a high of $220,000, with a median salary of $180,000.

Big dreams are made of this!

Think about it, don’t you want to make big bucks working on the VR version of FIFA 2025 or the latest version of “The last of us”. For that, you will need the right skills and qualifications and that’s when we prove to be useful,
