Freedom at last…

The United Kingdom is to remove Covid-19 related restrictions over the next week!

In England

Prime minister Boris Johnson has announced this Wednesday, that the government is no longer asking people to work remotely, although the legal requirement to self-isolate if tested positive for covid still remains, it has been announced that starting the 27th of January,

  1. Covid passes will no longer be compulsory to gain entry to venues and events.
  2. Face masks will no longer be compulsory in any public spaces, although London Mayor Sadiq Khan has confirmed they will remain mandatory on TfL services including the tube (subway).
  3. Restrictions on visits to care homes too will be eased.

What about Scotland?

In Scotland too, more measures that have been introduced after Christmas to combat the Omicron variant will be lifted. Indeed people will now be allowed to go to nightclubs, hold events with more than 200 people, and resume non-professional indoor contact sports!

Albeit some restrictions are still in place, Scots can now gain back a semblance of normalcy.

And in Wales?

In Wales too, some changes are underway, a gradual easing of Covid related restrictions i ongoing. For now, a number of 500 people is allowed at outdoor events, and the limits will be lifted altogether by Friday 21 January.

On 28 January, nightclubs will reopen, and the number of people gathering in pubs and restaurants will no longer be limited.

At last,

After nearly two years of struggles, the United Kingdom has started its journey back to a normal life. In hopes that we will see the end of this pandemic by the end of 2022, Cheers!
