Okay, first things first, what does fungible mean? Fungible means interchangeable, like money for example, if you exchange a 100£ bill for two 50£ bills, you’re not losing or gaining value, right? Fungible means that something can be exchanged.

Non-fungible means the exact opposite, each NFT is unique, like a song or a painting. Even though a painting can be copied and a song remixed, the original is still the original, and the replicas don’t have the same value.

How does that work?

NFTs, like Bitcoin and Ether, are stocked on the Blockchain.

Blockchain is a technology on the same scale as the internet, which allows digital data to be stored at minimal cost, in a decentralized, secure and unforgeable way. It is a sort of account book or ledger that contains a list of all exchanges made between users.

But, how is that a job?

NFTs are not just pieces of digital art, they are also Crypto Assets. Units of data stored on a blockchain digital ledger. Each NFT acts as a kind of certificate of authenticity, showing that a digital asset is unique and not interchangeable. And it can never be changed, adjusted, or stolen, thanks to the principles of cryptography that make the blockchain unique.
